Megan Paustian, a Starbucks' employee in Madison, WI and daughter of RISE's founder, organized a car wash to raise funds to be used for AIDS education in Angola. Fellow employees participated in the fundraising event.

Megan and her husband, Dan, conducted workshops on AIDS awareness and education for teachers, community leaders, and students in Angola during a three week pilgrimage of service to Africa in July of 2005.

Starbucks has many programs that encourage and support their employees to make a difference in their local communities. Through Make Your Mark, Starbucks matches partner and customer volunteer hours with cash contributions to nonprofit organizations.

In a campaign to collect school supplies for the children of rural Angola, Megan and Starbucks (Madison, WI) accepted donations on site to send on a RISE container. As a member of the Summer 2008 RISE Team, Megan had the opportunity to distribute the supplies to the children in the village of Cubal Koyaya during a dedication of the newly built RISE school.
