Team Objectives RISE has been involved in the Nangweshi Refugee Camp in western Zambia since August 2000. Nangweshi is to be closed by the end of 2005. The team hopes to:
1. Encourage, support and empower refugees that have endured endless suffering, conveying the partnership, enthusiasm and care of those in the US--churches, schools and small groups working together to help rebuild lives and communities.
2. Extend the heart of RISE's vision, which is about relationship, deepening our mutual understanding and concern for one another, focusing on people, sharing our lives.
3. Offer training and support—projects include: Angolan Agriculture; Children's Painted Collage, Core English & Business Skills Course; Mercy Dolls; Mercy Team; Photography as Metaphor; RISE International in Zambia—Photographs; Women's Bible Study and Prayer; Youth Sports; and Leadership.
4. Cast the vision for building schools in rural Angola among the refugees as they anticipate returning to their home villages; strategize and encourage the partnership of returning refugee leaders.
