Relationships that were forged in the refugee camps now provide a network of people and connections across Angola as refugees return to their homeland. After many years away, they find they are returning to the unknown. RISE offers a point of connection and a meaningful way to contribute to rebuilding their country and communities.

                       Mercy Teams
Our essential aim, our instrument of healing, is the rebuilding of community by empowering and enabling others to more effectively gather together their resources for the service of those in need. Mercy teams, consisting of three women, seek out and assist the most vulnerable, the sick and the dying, in the broader refugee community.
                     Containers
Through the generous donations of organizations and individuals from the community, RISE has been able to send numerous containers filled with donated items ranging from clothing to toys. Containers have been sent to camps in Zambia and Namibia, and the donated items have been distributed among refugees.

                     Blankets
In the spring/summer of 2002, RISE raised over $40,000 to purchase and distribute approximately 8,000 blankets to refugees in Africa.

                         Doll Project
The purpose of the project was to provide the Mercy Team and Youth leaders with a project where they could learn to make a simple object, a rag doll, and then distribute them as gifts to help bring joy to the lives of the most vulnerable children in the camp.
