The Angola Project is a collaborative effort of students and adults in Tucson, AZ working together to make a difference in Angola. The Angola Project started in 2007 when three Ironwood Ridge High School students decided they wanted to "take action." Ironwood Ridge High School, Grace Community Church, and many other schools, churches, teams, and local businesses have partnered to send a shipping container filled with school supplies, clothing, and soccer equipment to rural Angola in 2007-2009. These containers have arrived and the supplies and clothing have been distributed to those most in need. In 2010, the students at Ironwood Ridge, along with support from other schools and members of The Tucson community, set the challenging goal of building a school in Angola. Their efforts, along with five other U.S. schools helped to fund a school built in Caala where 800 children attend school in a village where no school currently exists. Their efforts are making a difference and they hope to duplicate this in 2011. A fundraising page has been set up for online donations. |
