In Angola, AIDS is estimated to be 2.1%, the lowest of all sub-Saharan Africa. War isolated Angola from the infiltration and spread of AIDS, but that is rapidly changing. With no known cure, AIDS is preventative. Now is the time to allow Angola to avoid the devastation of AIDS experienced by all of its neighbors. RISE has a network through which the ITC! curriculum is being used in the schools as a pilot program, truly a matter of life and death.

Of the 32.9 million people living with HIV, 22.5 million are in sub-Saharan Africa. Of the 2.1 million AIDS deaths in 2007, 1.6 million were in sub-Saharan Africa. 32% of Angolan women, ages 15 to 49, have never heard of AIDS. 137 children are orphaned each day in Angola due to the AIDS epidemic.
