Greetings-

I am delighted and grateful for your interest in the children and people of Angola. After 27 years of civil war, suffering and devastion, there are thousands of children and their parents, particularly in the rural areas of Angola, that have never had the chance to go to school, to learn to read  and write--that is where RISE, with the help of people like you, can and is making a difference. Education is at the heart of recovery and rebuilding for all countries and RISE is focusing its efforts on building primary schools. The first school was built in 2003, just 6 years ago--and now there are over 100 schools built, and more than 55,000 children in school learning, those that would not have had the chance for years to come!

More has happened than we could ever have envisioned. We celebrate many milestones, some that are big and measurable, and some beyond measure--the touch, connection and involvement with people half a world away, and the significance of doing something that really makes a difference. The journey of RISE has been remarkable--joy and sorrow side by side. The challenges are enormous, yet people are uniting, working together with a shared value of education. I invite you to browse our website, to read the stories, to be moved and inspired to do something. We can make a difference in a world that seems to be without hope, we can impact the lives of others for good, and in the process be enriched ourselves. May we "spend ourselves in behalf of the hungry..."
